Riverdale Writes

Winter Workshop for Adults ( 4 weeks)

A Novel Approach: From Idea to Draft
Author Kristi Cook will guide writers as they explore the development of a novel from the seed of an idea through the beginnings of the outline and writing process.  Topics covered include setting, plotting, characterization, conflict, dialogue, and pacing.  Together, participants will work on the building blocks of a draft (i.e., exercises relating to craft–dialogue, point-of-view, characterization, etc). By the end of the workshop, participants will have a fully formed idea, and, in many cases, the opening chapters and the tools necessary to complete a first draft they can work on in subsequent workshops.
